Ava: What’s your favorite place in nature?
Anne: What? Like, campgrounds that I enjoyed staying at?
Ava: Well, it doesn’t have to be a place you actually went to.
It could be a place that you would like to go some day or some place
that you just like the idea of.
Anne: Does it have to be on Earth?
Ava: That’s up to you. It’s whatever you consider to be nature.
Anne: In that case, I pick space!
Anne: Because there is so much to it. It’s infinite, and beautiful, and everlasting.
People are always discovering new things about it that give us insights into the
truth of our reality. And it is so final. If someone has an idea about some feature
of space and they turn out to be wrong, then they are wrong. You can’t argue against the truths of space.
When I think about space I get this intense hit of emotions. Awe, excitement, fear, respect, comfort. I feel so
small compared to it, and I am grateful that I get to be a part of it.
Ava: Ha ha ha!
Anne: Come on, don’t laugh me, I’m being honest.
Ava: No, it’s not that, it’s just… I really liked your answer.
Anne: Oh really? Why’s that?
Ava: Well… somebody once told me that a person’s answer to “What’s your favorite place in nature?”
is related to how they think about God, and your answer made me happy so I laughed.
Anne: Ha ha ha!
